BMW Longlife-04 Engine Oil

What BMW Longlife-04 means

BMW Longlife-04 is a long-drain specification for low-SAPS oils, used for BMW and MINI petrol and diesel engines, in particular engines with a diesel particulate filter. Oils that meet it are typically SAE 5W-30 oils in ACEA category C3.

Questions

Is BMW Longlife-04 the same as Longlife-01? No. Longlife-01 is an older specification for engines without a particulate filter. Follow the specification in the vehicle's service documentation.
